West Des Moines, Iowa, July 1, 2020

Premier Retirement Plan Advisors Completes Acquisition and Succession of St. Joseph, Missouri Financial Professional

Today, J.R. Phillips, president of Premier Retirement Plan Advisors, announced the completed acquisition and succession of R. Patrick (Pat) Cargill’s financial advisory business based in St. Joseph, Missouri. Both Phillips and Cargill are registered representatives and Investment Adviser Representatives of Voya Financial Advisors, Inc. (VFA). The acquisition was completed on July 1.

“I congratulate Pat on his successful career as a financial professional. I am honored to have been chosen to be Pat’s successor and look forward to working with all of his clients in helping them achieve their financial goals and objectives,” said Phillips. “This acquisition further expands our existing client base in the Midwest and I am excited to offer our comprehensive financial products and services to Pat’s clients in St. Joseph and surrounding communities in Missouri and elsewhere.”

Phillips’ growing firm is securities registered in nineteen states, primarily in the Midwest and southeast United States. With the completion of the acquisition, Phillips will have over $125 million in assets under management (AUM)/assets under advisement (AUA). This is Phillips’ second acquisition in the past three years.

“I selected JR and his firm because JR is very driven and actively helps his clients achieve their financial goals,” said Cargill. “His approach and client focus aligns well with how I have grown my business over the past 23 years. I feel confident my clients will benefit and enjoy working with JR and his team. His ability to tap into the resources and support at Voya also helped make this an easy decision.”

With the strength of Voya backing them up, financial professionals at Voya are uniquely positioned to offer retirement, insurance and investment products to help clients plan, invest and protect their savings. Voya delivers the resources, tools and support to meet the needs of clients – when, how and where clients want it.

“I am impressed with JR’s commitment to his clients and the expansion of his business,” commented Tom Halloran, president of VFA. “JR embodies the client-centric and growth-oriented mindset we see from successful advisors at VFA. It’s a pleasure to see JR achieve continued success and growth with his acquisition of Pat’s business.”
